OVERVIEW
Stage 6 includes both the Year 11 (Preliminary Course) and the Year 12 (HSC Course) for a particular subject. Stage 6 subjects/courses delivered by the Social Science Faculty can be broken into 3 categories:
1. 2 Unit NSW Board of Studies Developed Courses that can be counted towards producing an ATAR. Legal Studies, Economics, Business Studies, Studies of Religion and Geography
2. 2 Unit NSW Board of Studies Developed Courses based on and satisfying AQTF Training Package requirements.
While both Business Services and Retail Services are NSW Board of Studies Developed Courses that can count towards producing an ATAR via completion of an external HSC exam they also produce a Certificate under the AQF which is recognised across Australia via the AQTF.
However, students who do not require an ATAR can choose not to sit the HSC exam for that subject but instead simply receive a Certificate for the subject under the AQF provided they are competent.
3. 2 Unit NSW Board of Studies Content Endorsed Courses. Work Studies is a practical school to work oriented subject that falls into this category.
