Referral Types
- Students may be referred to counselling by a member of staff or via a parent request
- Students may also self-refer directly
Except in cases of long suspensions, once referred, any participation in counselling is purely voluntary for high school-aged students.
Interpreter service
Westfields Sports High School offers assistance with Arabic speakers for all school matters.
The Department of Education also offers schools the service of Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) to assist lisaising with families with limited English proficiency.
An interpreter can be requested to discuss school matters involving your child's enrolment, subject choices, educational progress, attendance, welfare or behavior.
Interpreters can also be requested for parent-teacher interviews, school meetings, school council meetings, and P&C meetings.
Parents and carers who need an interpreter to attend a school meeting should advise the school in advance.
Adult education
Community colleges across NSW offer adult and community education courses ranging from general interest courses to nationally accredited courses.
NSW Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) runs English language programs for migrants.
