Aim

The main aim of the Hockey Program at Westfields Sports is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our athletes so that they may improve their individual skills in hockey as well as developing an awareness of belonging to a team. The program provides opportunity for students to develop knowledge, not only in hockey, but in areas which will affect a person's general health and lifestyle.

Courses Offered

Year 7/8 Sport Enrichment is an introduction to the program including practical and theoretical components based on the principles of hockey.

Year 9/10 Applied Sport Studies is an elective subject chosen for study over two years as a component for the Year 10 Record of Student Achievement. In this course there is a greater emphasis on advanced skills and systems. The theoretical component includes units on psychology, nutrition, hockey specific training principles, sport injuries as well as completing video analysis.
